Costa Gorel works in the expressionistic Austro-German manner, continuing and reinterpreting the traditions of Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka, Ferdinand Hodler, and Emil Nolde.

In his artworks, Costa explores the emotional and psychological experiences of people, often expressing them through the interaction of the character with different spaces, objects, and fashion items.

The artist works with oil and watercolor. The main visual techniques are the principles of Baroque, Renaissance, and interior design. Costa strives to incorporate elements of Gothic and Baroque architecture into the everyday lives of his characters using contemporary objects and artifacts of the fashion industry that carry the DNA of architectural heritage. The artist in his artworks refers to the “Mudéjar” style that arose in Spain. This style closely combines elements of Moorish, Gothic and Renaissance art. In the style of "Mudéjar” farce is expressed through architecture - the sublime palace mixes with the worldly folk. The artist uses sexuality and nudity as a tool to show vulnerability, insecurity, passion, and thirst for life.

The artist's lyrical character is Orlando, endowed with the background from Virginia Woolf's eponymous novel and transferred to our time with a nod to the memory of centuries lived. Orlando can be a woman, a man, or a plural in all kinds of embodiments. He tries to find his place in the world and is also in an endless search for inexpressible beauty.
